Campaign Kick-off BBQ for Wes Benedict, featuring the "King of Vegas" Libertarian Presidential Candidate Wayne Allyn Root (W.A.R.)

AUSTIN - May 1, 2008 - Wes Benedict, Libertarian Candidate for Travis County Commissioner, Precinct 3, will host a campaign kick-off barbecue Saturday, May 3, at the County Line, Bee Cave Road location.

The barbecue beings at 12:00 noon with speeches from 1:00 pm to 2:00 pm.  A $25 contribution which includes the barbecue is requested for attendance by the public.

Wes Benedict will face Republican Gerald Daugherty and Democrat Karen Huber in the November 4th general election.

The guest speaker, Wayne Allyn Root, also known as "WAR," the "King of Vegas," and an "S.O.B." (son of a butcher) is seeking the Libertarian Party's nomination for president in a hotly contested race to be decided at its National Convention in Denver on May 24.

Wes Benedict's message to voters: "My number one goal is to kick Gerald Daugherty out of office for flip-flopping on toll roads and passenger rail.  My number two goal is to get the highest percentage ever for a Libertarian Party candidate in Travis County in a three-way race against a Democratic and Republican.  If lots of support comes forward, my number 3 stretch goal is to win and be a voice representing Travis County voters for cutting taxes and spending." 

Wes Benedict ran for Austin City Council in 2003 receiving 35% of the vote in a two-way race, in 2005 placing second out of five with 18%, and 2006 receiving 17% in a three-way race.
