Why I'm Running for Office
I want to cut taxes and spending. I believe our politicians and bureaucrats have deliberately made Austin the most congested mid-size city in America to trick us into thinking we need toll roads and light rail. They have refused to approve low-cost road improvements claiming they don't have the funds, then propose rail and toll roads which cost up to ten times more than buses and non-tolled roads per passenger mile of added capacity.
Light rail and toll roads cost too much and do too little.

Fighting the $65 million subsidy to the luxury Domain Mall
I testifid against this pork in 2003, nearly alone: Austin City Council Meeting, 5/8/03
Since then, a grassroots organization comprising over 500 businesses, Democrats, Republicans, Libertarians, independents, and more is fighting back with a citizens' initiative: Stop Domain Subsidies
While serving as the Travis County Libertarian Party Chair, we issued this press release October 11, 2007, Libertarians support "Stop Domain Subsidies" petition effort, which explained that "When government subsidizes one group of businesses, the tax burden shifts to other businesses, putting them at a competitive disadvantage. That is fundamentally unfair."
My recent testimony before the Austin City Council: Austin City Council Meeting, 8/21/08, "Everyone knows there's something wrong when you keep jacking up taxes on small businesses and even strip malls where poor people shop and then hand out a $65 million subsidy to the Domain luxury mall owned by one of the biggest mall developers in the world."
